Overview and Mandate

Overview

    The Council is a statutory body that is mandated to protect the public interest. It is a body that comprises individual persons in private practice selected from the professions of Architecture and Quantity Surveying, as well as members from Government. These persons are appointed by the Minister of Works and Transport in accordance with Act 13 of 1979. Council members serve for two years. Council has various committees to deal with a variety of issues such as the registration of architects and quantity surveyors, disciplinary matters, the assessment of persons wishing to register with the Council, etc.

Mandate

The primary mandate of the Council is to protect the public from persons performing duties reserved for Architects and Quantity Surveyors

The Council (NCAQS) is a statutory body that has been given the authority by law to establish and to control inter alia:

  • The route to registration of a person as an Architect or Quantity Surveyor
  • The rules for conduct of Architects and Quantity Surveyors including architects-in-training and quantity surveyors-in-training
  • The work that may be undertaken only by registered Architects and Quantity Surveyor
  • Guidelines for the format of consulting practices and their legal framework
About us

The Namibia Council for Architects and Quantity Surveyors is a statutory council established by the Architects' and Quantity Surveyors' Act 13 of 1979. The Namibia Council for Architects and Quantity Surveyors registers Professional Architects and Quantity Surveyors, regulates the profession in protecting the public interest against unprofessional conduct and establishes the route to registration to allow professionals in these professions to register and practice in Namibia.
